luskentyre 3

Another shot taken on Luskentyre beach, Isle of Harris a few days ago. Being on the Atlantic coastline, the weather fronts rush in and over the Hebrides very quickly, giving great opportunities for images such as this (and yesterday's) with sunshine and storms in the same frame!

Nice shot - beaches are just great "posers"!
David from the Hebrides: Thanks Mikedi- I'm spoiled for choice up here- these Atlantic beaches are great!

The patterns in the sand made by the lapping waves reminds me of a Japanese Garden (I'm sure they have a specific name...)

Lovely
David from the Hebrides: Ah- you are an astute man Andy! smile I have been a Japanese garden fan for most of my life and when I saw this round these rocks, that is exactly why I photographed it! The sand-raked stylised waves are, known as ginshanada, and I love them!
Great image David, I like the ripples on the beach as well, apart from the great emptiness.
David from the Hebrides: Thanks Brian- the raked wave lines (ginshanada) in Japanese gardens are one of my favourite motifs, so when I saw these tide-marks looking so similar, I had to snap them!

this is simply wonderful. Of I was being picky I would wish the the edges of the foreground rocks hadn't been cut off but that is just a minor gripe
